Yuzhno Sakhalinsk ( Южно-Сахалинск )

Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk is the administrative center of Sakhalin Oblast and the biggest city of the Island. Sakhalin is an important economic region of the Russian Far East with its huge Oil and Gas Reserves especially in the Northern part of the Island. Southern Sakhalin was once under the rule of Imperial Japan until the Russo-Japanese War that ceded the whole of Sakhalin to Russia.
