Anika - Change (Official Music Video)

“Change“ from the album “Change“ out on Sacred Bones Records / Invada Records. Purchase here: Artist statement: A small boxed-in space, like we can’t get out of the ruts we are in, trying to move in the little, confined spaces we have. Well, we can still do a lot in that little space. There’s a lot of stuff I want to change. Some things I sat down and decided last year I had to change about myself and my life. Sometimes it feels helpless because the things we want to change are so huge and out of our control. Starting with yourself is always a good place. I think we can change. Last year was brutal seeing all the things that were happening in the world. Sometimes it’s scary to speak up, to step in, when we see something happening that we don’t want. It takes courage and sometimes those with a power advantage make believe that these things cannot be changed, that this is the way it is, was and always will be. Well, in my opinion, that’s bullshit. It’s a way for the power wielders to secure another 10 years in the comfortable seat of power, to uphold the status quo, which is in their interest. You’re told you’re selfish or naive or childish, a deluded dreamer to want to change things. Well then call me a dreamer, being a dreamer is one thing I will NOT change. Keep speaking up, keep listening to others and their stories and not feeling like you need to KNOW about what they are going through or define it, simply listen, stand against what you see as unjust, stand up against the bullies, in your life, in power, in the world. „We all have things to learn, about each other, about the world, about ourselves. We could do well to listen sometimes and not just shout around about things we know nothing about. I think we can change.“ Thanks to Sven Gutjahr for the directing, shooting and editing of ’Change’ and for being amazing as always. Thanks to Esteban Pomar for the styling and extra pieces; a proper sweetheart and a spaceship that can take things to another dimension. Thanks to the Jil Sander crew for trusting and lending me some top notch stuff, this really helped bring things to life. Thanks also to Caroline Raick who did an amazing job on hair and makeup, and transformed this into an extra-terrestrial experience. Merci a million.
