Sketches: Making techno live in MASCHINE+ with Dana Ruh | Native Instruments
Few people live and breathe music like Dana Ruh. This German techno powerhouse is not just a DJ and producer – she also runs a record label and vinyl distribution company out of her KMA60 record store in Berlin. Dana prefers playing over programming, and Native Instruments’ MASCHINE is the backbone of her live house and techno sets.
In this Sketches video, Dana Ruh crafts a beat from scratch entirely in MASCHINE , using MIDI sync and on-board synths and effects like MASSIVE, MONARK, RAUM and the internal MASCHINE delay. She explains how to come up with new ideas using variation and using cutoff, resonance, and automation to give tracks dynamics and motion.
