Geometric mean regression in excel

The default trendline in excel is calculated using ordinary least squares regression, this minimizes the vertical distances between the data points and the trendline, which might not be appropriate if your data has uncertainties in both the x-values and the y-values. An alternative method for calculating the trendline is using geometric mean regression, also called reduced major axis regression or standard major axis regression.
