National Guard deployed to NYC subways amid spike in transit crimes

As part of New York Gov. Kathy Hochul’s plan to crack down on crime, members of the National Guard have been deployed to the New York City subway system. This is in addition to the 1,000 additional NYPD officers that the Mayor Eric Adams ordered to patrol trains in February after a reported 45% spike in transit crimes in January.
