I wanted to test my capture device’s ability to capture the raw 120fps PSVR output, the full FOV image transmitted to the lenses of the headset, so I decided to use the new Doctor Who VR game to do so. I’m a big fan of the series, so I’ve also made this for any fans who may not have VR but want to know what the story was like.
I’ve designed this video so it can potentially be viewed in a VR headset for the full 3D experience, but I’ve noticed that the lens curving on the PSVR isn’t completely the same as youtube was expecting, so there’s a bit of distortion there. And because I’m not able to capture the full 360 degree environment, you can’t really turn much either, but looking forward with small turning is possible for an immersive experience. Some may find the fact that the camera is moving without their input uncomfortable. You can also watch in 2D mode on a phone which lets you rotate the device for some motion viewing. On a PC, you can click and drag around.
