In December last year, several violent protests took place in Belgium after the government announced strict measures to try to curb the spread of the coronavirus, including mandatory mask wearing for primary school children and a lengthening of the school holidays, in addition to the obligation to present COVID-19 passes in order to access bars and restaurants, which was introduced in October.
