Caroline Hervé, professionally known as Miss Kittin, is a multifaceted French artist renowned for her contributions to electronic music. Born in Grenoble in 1973, her journey into music began with a rich exposure to diverse genres from an early age, influenced by her parents’ eclectic tastes. Despite an initial foray into art studies, her passion for music steered her towards a career in DJing and production.
In the mid-90s, Miss Kittin emerged onto the electronic music scene, quickly gaining recognition for her energetic performances and innovative sound. Teaming up with The Hacker, she produced seminal tracks like “1982“ and “Frank Sinatra,“ which became anthems of the electroclash movement, propelling her to international acclaim.
Throughout the late 90s and early 2000s, Miss Kittin’s career soared as she collaborated with renowned artists such as Felix da Housecat and Golden Boy, expanding her musical repertoire and audience reach. Her solo debut album, “I Com,“ released in 2004, showcased her distinctive style and garnered critical acclaim.
Undeterred by convention, Miss Kittin founded her own label, Nobody’s Bizzness, enabling her to maintain creative autonomy and release albums like “BatBox“ and “Two.“ Her partnership with The Hacker continued to flourish, culminating in the release of their second album together, “Two,“ in 2009.
Miss Kittin’s musical evolution remained dynamic, with subsequent albums like “Calling from the Stars“ in 2013 showcasing her versatility and willingness to explore new sonic territories. In 2018, she released “Cosmos,“ a conceptual album delving into existential themes through ambient and experimental compositions.
Her influences span a wide spectrum, from electronic pioneers like Kraftwerk and Daft Punk to literary figures like Bret Easton Ellis and Stanley Kubrick. Miss Kittin’s enduring impact on electronic music resonates through her pioneering spirit, innovative compositions, and unwavering commitment to artistic exploration.
