Men’s Rhythmic Gymnastics

The development of a sport is fascinating. Without pretending to give an exhaustive vision of the problem (because I am very far from it, and there is so much to say, men in rhythmic gymnastics raising at the same time questions about society, sponsorship, television, management, etc ...) here is a very small presentation. Ironically, if Japanese men’s rhythmic gymnastics was accepted as an Olympic sport, gender equality would be achieved on the paper but not in reality : men could still not do rhythmic gymnastics at Olympic level and women could not do Japanese rhythmic gymnastics at Olympics level. There are no other Olympic discipline I can think of where the sport is looking that different for men or women. Even in artistic gymnastics it shares the same spirit and elements as well as two apparatuses (floor and vault). Also, if Japanese men’s RG is included in FIG and there is a rope event, I’m going to laugh very loud, maybe you’ll be able to hear me. Credits video
