Blender for Scientists - The CGFigures Asset Library

This is the initial release walkthrough for the CGFigures Asset Library, an organized collection of nearly all the assets I’ve compiled over three years of running CGFigures. A note about the default start file I include: In the initial release it was setup to use OpenImageDenoise because my understanding is that it is more cross-platform compatible. If you have a Nvidia card OptiX will almost definitely speed up your render times. Thanks to @DrawBioMed for catching this. Everything I make from here on out will be added to updates of this in the future and you can find the links mentioned in the video, as well as the links to the library itself below. Note that the gumroad version does have a minimum price but the free version is available from my website and they are identical. More details are provided in the video. Link to the free version on the cgfigures website: Link to the library on gumroad (if you’d like to pay to support it. More of this will go to me directly though I do donate to the blender dev fund every month as a gold level supporter): Blendermarket link (if you’d like to pay to support it and directly contribute to the blender development fund): Links mentioned in this video: Ryo Mizuta’s Channel: @ryomizutagraphics Ryo Mizuta’s Gumroad: Johnny Matthew’s Bulk Asset Tools Video: Johnny Matthew’s Gumroad: David’s Stylized Molecules with Grease Pencil: Sam Aldhaher’s ElectroMag Nodes: CGFigures links: Website: Blender & Science Episode 4: Layer Builder Video: CSV to Geonodes Video: Papers to Pages Video: Other Links: Community discord: CGFigures Patreon: Timestamps: 0:00 Intro and Outline of the Library 4:15 Main Points Addressed in this Video 5:00 What is this thing? 5:30 How do you install it? 6:25 How is this useful? 6:50 What extras are there and what isn’t here? 10:20 What is next? 11:30 What about other creators? 12:50 Showcasing the entire library 13:17 Biology 14:40 CGFigures Geonodes 17:45 Chemistry Labware 19:04 Data Visualizations 19:26 Figure Elements 23:13 Functional 3D Printing 26:35 Hardware Components 28:25 Material Preview Lighting and Modeling Basics 29:30 Molecules 35:12 Physics 36:55 Scientific Shaders 38:17 What I have used this for? 38:50 What are you using this for? 39:29 Can you add something to the library? 40:03 Version compatibility and policy 40:45 My request to the community 41:20 Wrapping Up
