Blue-tongued Skink - Movement of the Forelimbs During Locomotion
This 3D-animation shows the movement of the shoulder girdle and the forelimbs during belly-dragging locomotion of the Blue-tongued Skink (Tiliqua scincoides) at metres/sec. Note how the shoulder girdle is held very low above the ground, leaving the belly and breast in almost constant contact with the substrate. Due to this posture, the forelimbs are held in a hypersprawled position.
XROMM - Scientific Rotoscoping has been used in order to create this animation.
