Jamuary 5, Stupefaction // feat. Lyra 8, Soma Cosmos + Eurorack

This was recorded on Jan 5th, the 5th day of Jamuary! It features the Soma Lyra 8, Soma Cosmos looper, and my Eurorack skiff. This sketch is definitely more experimental... it’s a weird layering of awkwardly phasing cross-rhythms and glitches, wonky pitch bending and crunchy claustrophobic supporting textures -- hence the title, Stupefaction. I can’t imagine this being many people’s cup of tea, but I had great fun making it! And I believe that pushing my self into weirder areas is a great way to inform unique work on slightly more friendly pieces. A few notes: the sound source is all Lyra, envelopes and gates are provided by the Eurorack; pitch-shifting, glitching etc. are all Eurorack, mostly achieved the QuBit Data Bender; background textures are two patches from the Intellijel Rainmaker, one being looped by the Soma Cosmos and filtered by Acidbox 3, the other running in real time over the top.
