Developed by The Code Monkeys and published by Accolade in 1992
At the most basic level, Universal Soldier is a rip-off of Turrican II with some revised graphics and a movie license slapped on top. Given just how much of the game has been lifted and shifted, I have to assume Factor 5 licensed the Turrican II engine and tech to the developers (even the music is the same), else it’s one of the worst cases of video game plagiarism in history.
There are, however, some unique additions to the game, such as a couple of new of the levels, and the pre-existing levels taken from Turrican II have some additional secret areas and alternate routes includes. The game plays well enough, but it really does precious little to convince the player this is anything to do with the film.
