It is very challenging to play this piece as a technical étude, because of the innovative characters inside, the use of new and inhabituel combinations of techniques. The way of the integration of the compositional tools on a guitar is an interesting approach as well. The main theme of ”Playing God” is composed with the use of an electronic Japanese musical instrument called Omnichord that is at first introduced in the 1980s. It mainly construct arpeggios in given harmony by generating notes in higher or lower direction. The ending part is composed with the use of a more modern arpeggiator plugin called Omnisphere. This output becomes very unnatural to play on a guitar and is adapted by Polyphia’s guitar players Tim Henson and Scott LePage by using many combinations of different guitar techniques in a fast tempo. The bass guitar part is filled by Clay Gober. Wes Hauch is another guitar player who also contributes to the composition by proposing a guitar riff and a samba chord progression part.
