The new Law No. 316 was signed, which introduces some changes relating to foreign “highly qualified specialists” beginning from January 7, 2024. WHAT’S CHANGED? 1. Specialists and their families have the right to get a lifelong permanent residence permit in Russia if he’s been working in Russia at least 2 years. 2. If a foreign specialist quitted his job, he has 30 working days to get hired somewhere else, and if he fails, he has 30 calendar days to leave Russia. Before this law, everything was the same except for the period during which a specialist must leave the country – it used to be 30 working, not calendar days. 3. Beginning from January 7, those who applied for issuing or renewing a work permit don’t have to provide the original labor contract – its copy is enough. In addition, the employers don’t need to provide their employee’s registration any longer. 4. Earlier, the employers had to pay a highly qualified specialist at least 167,000 rubles monthly
