Ahora Mazda - Ahora Mazda 1970 (Netherlands, Space , Psychedelic , Jazz , Progressive Rock) In 1965 in the city of Amsterdam (Holland) three musicians gathered: Rob Van Wageningen and brothers Peter and Winky Abbink. They all played jazz-oriented music. Almost immediately the team was given the name “Free Art Group“. For reference points were taken such masters of the genre as Ornette Coleman, Sun Ra and John Coltrane. In 1968, bassist Tony Schreuder joined the Free Art Group. Soon the group changes its name to “Group 67/68”. Speaking for some time in different cities of his native country, the final name was approved. It became “Ahora Mazda“. This phrase comes from the name of the supreme god in Zoroastrianism - Ahoera Mazda. In their updated lineup and with a new name, the participants played a completely different music. It was a bizarre mix of progressive, psychedelic rock, jazz and avant-garde. Now, the landmarks have shifted toward Jimi Hendrix, Captain Beefheart, and The Mothers Of Invention. Over the entire period of activity, Ahora Mazda gave several concerts, performed at charity parties. They shared the scene with Shocking Blue, Group 1850 and Circus. In 1970, the band recorded their only album, which bears the same name. The release goes on an experimental label “Catfish“. In 1971, as a result of disagreements within the team, lack of free time, lack of permanent staff and other negative reasons, the group ceases to exist. Tracks: 01. Spacy Tracy - 0:00 02.
