Summer Pruning Espalier Apples. I’ve had some good Spring weather at the Shack lately. Plenty of rain, followed by plenty of sunshine. This meant that the apple trees were getting out of control and starting to send new branches up through the bird netting. While it was too early to be able to call is true Summer pruning, it had to be done. While I was at it, I went through and thinned out some of the fruit.
