Ukrainian shells rain down on Russian motorway

Dashcam footage has captured the moment alleged Ukrainian artillery fire hit cars travelling on a road overnight in the Russian city of Belgorod. In the video, the thump of an explosion is heard as one oncoming car bursts into flames, leaving wreckage strewn across the road. Another impact then occurs directly to the right of the camera, leaving smoke and debris spewing across the windscreen before the driver takes evasive action and speeds away. The local governor said the attack killed five people and injured 46 others, and that 37 of the injured - including seven children - were taken to hospitals in the city. Russia’s Foreign Ministry condemned the strikes as a “brutal terrorist attack” and called on the international community to distance itself from the “Kyiv regime”. Belgorod is located around 25 miles from the Ukrainian border and has come under increased attacks since Ukraine began a cross-border assault in the neighbouring Kursk region on August 6.
