China - The Glorious JingPeng Pass, 2003

24 hours on the famous JingPeng Pass in China’s Inner Mongolia in 2003 was an experience not to forget. The beautiful QJ class 2-10-2s made an amazing sight as they pounded their way up and over the mountain range 300 miles north of Beijing. The JiTong Railway was first opened for traffic as recently as 1995 and was entirely steam operated (with lower quadrant signals) for its first 10 years. Filmed in November 2003.
