Huge Filament Eruption and CME - Geomagnetic Storm in Progress - Solar Storm Alert

A coronal hole stream is now moving past our planet near 540 km/s. A minor (G1) geomagnetic storm is currently in progress. The Bz component of the interplanetary magnetic field has periodically been pointing south and this is helping to stir up geomagnetic activity. Arctic sky watchers should be alert for auroras after local nightfall. Huge Filament Eruption A huge filament located in the southeast quadrant lifted off this morning beginning at 05:00 UTC (Nov 22). This resulted in a coronal mass ejection (CME), first seen in SOHO/LASCO C2 coronagraph. The CME is likely headed to the southeast of our planet, however, there is a chance of a glancing blow.
