Tensions rise as police clash with pro-Palestine protesters in London

Tens of thousands of pro-Palestinian demonstrators have marched through central London, with some chanting the contentious slogan “from the river to the sea, Palestine must be free”. The chant has been interpreted as calling for the destruction of the state of Israel and is regarded as both offensive and threatening by many Jews. The marchers wound their way down Regent Street towards Whitehall shouting the slogan, which Suella Braverman, the Home Secretary, has suggested could be regarded as a hate crime over which police could take action if it is seen as threatening public order.
