We now might know more about 2023’s Call of Duty game, and it may be more of a full fledged title than previously anticipated.
For the last decade, yearly Call of Duty games have been juggled between three studios that have led development on each title: Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games, and Treyarch. After Sledgehammer’s Vanguard in 2021 and Modern Warfare II by Infinity Ward in 2022, Treyarch was up next to bat. However, in 2022, reporter Jason Schreier revealed that Treyarch’s next rendition of the franchise was internally pushed to 2024, and that 2023 would be the first year without a mainline entry for nearly 20 years. Instead, there would be additional Modern Warfare II content being thrown together by Sledgehammer Games.
