#shorts: Young’s double-slit experiment with a quantum particle
This is a shorter remake of the video with better resolution. The simulation shows the solution of Schrödinger’s equation for a quantum particle moving towards, and partly through, a double slit. One can see interference patterns quite clearly. The color represents the probability density of finding the particle at a given place, red is more likely, blue is less likely. The initial state is a Gaussian wave packet with a momentum directed to the right. Boundary conditions are periodic, meaning that the left and right boundaries are glued together, as are the top and bottom ones, but on this rather short time scale, one does not notice it so much.
