Viewing the Elk in Cataloochee!

Carole and I took a day-trip to the Cataloochee section of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It’s one of my favorite areas of the Park, and it’s where the Park Service chose to begin restoration of the elk to the southern Appalachians. The wild turkey populations have also soared in recent years and they, too, are to be found in large numbers there.
