Percy Mayfield composed the “Hit the Road Jack” in 1960, but he was never able to sing song in person from of his injuries, including facial injuries, from a cart accident. Mayfield switched to composing music tracks and transferred “Hit the road Jack” to Ray Charles, and for good reason. In his performance “Hit the Road Jack” became famous all over the world.
