The song topped the music chart Billboard Hot 100 in the ‘61, garnered two Grammy Awards and was ranked by Rolling Stone as being among the 500 greatest songs of all time. However, now few people remember the story and the author of this song, talanted American blues musician. Percy Mayfield composed the “Hit the Road Jack” in 1960, but he was never able to sing song in person from of his injuries, including facial injuries, from a cart accident. Mayfield switched to composing music tracks and transferred “Hit the road Jack” to Ray Charles, and for good reason. In his performance “Hit the Road Jack” became famous all over the world.
