Bach - Sonata for violin and harpsichord no. 2 in A major BWV 1015 | Netherlands Bach Society

Musically speaking, this work is everything that its predecessor is not. BWV 1014 is in the poignant key of B minor and is dominated by a melancholy tone and many expressive dissonants. BWV 1015, on the other hand, is in the radiant A major, a key that says there’s not a cloud in the sky, as it were. The first movement is pastoral and dreamy in nature, and the quick movements are airy. Only in the third movement do the skies cloud over briefly. Recorded for the project All of Bach on 6 December 2021 at Broedergemeente in Zeist.
