Reviving memories of war: Defence of Brest Fortress

Today we’re remembering one of the bloodiest chapters of the War - the Defence of Brest Fortress. In June 1941 the Nazis surrounded the fortress in the city of Brest - in Belarus - and started shelling it without warning. The Soviet forces were unprepared, but Hitler met with strong resistance and the defenders held on for more than a week.
