This 1951 episode of the short lived TV series “The March of Time” is narrated by Westbrook van Voorhis and follows the events leading up to Christmas in the quaint town of Elkhorn, Wisconsin. It follows around the editor of the local newspaper, “The Elkhorn Independent”, as he visits different people to get his stories for the next newspaper edition. He speaks to the town’s oldest resident, goes to the local high school, the County Clerk, different manufacturers, a dairy farm, and the city’s Common Council among others.

The March of Time TV show was based on the newsreel series of the same name, which was also narrated by Westbrook van Voorhis and ran from 1935-1951. The series was originally intended to provide an objective overview of news topics and was based on an earlier radio program launched by CBS Radio.
