An early morning Israeli airstrike on a hospital courtyard in Gaza’s central city of Deir al-Balah has killed at least four people and left over 25 with severe burns, according to Palestinian medics. The flames swept through a tent camp housing displaced civilians near the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, which was already overwhelmed with patients from an earlier strike on a school-turned-shelter that killed 20 people. Israeli officials stated they were targeting militants allegedly using civilian areas as cover, but provided no evidence. This is the latest in a series of strikes on crowded civilian shelters in Gaza. The Gaza Health Ministry reports over 42,000 Palestinians have been killed in the ongoing conflict, with women and children making up more than half the fatalities. Nearly 90% of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents have been displaced, and large areas have been completely destroyed. The war, which began after Hamas’ attack on southern Israel in October 2023, shows no signs of ending. Isr
