Widely known as a co-founder of the stalwart label Razor-N-Tape, J is also a highly respected producer, prolific remixer, and incendiary DJ. This selection focuses on a key moment in dance music history when underground club music was transitioning from Disco to 80s dance and House. Producers like Boyd Jarvis, Tee Scott, Timmy Regisford and others were making use of new recording techniques, using drum machines, sequencers as well as dub effect styles borrowed from Reggae and Dancehall to create what’s now often called Proto-House.
