Dec: Down Beat Reader’s Poll is published. 1 Dec. - Barcelona: Gig with Tete Montoliu, Marc Johnson, and Victor Lewis at the Palau de la Musica Catalana, as part of the Festival of Jazz. Televised by TV-3. 2 Dec. - Sevilla: Gig with Tete Montoliu, Marc Johnson, and Victor Lewis at the Escuela de Arquitectura as part of the International Jazz Festival. 3 Dec. - Sevilla: Off. 4 Dec. - Madrid: Gig with Tete Montoliu, Marc Johnson, and Victor Lewis at City University as part of the San Juan Evangelista Jazz Festival. After the show, Adams does an interview with Jose Maria Garcia for Quartica Jazz (published posthumously in April, 1987). 5 Dec. - Madrid/Barcelona: Adams flies back to the U.S. 6 Dec. - New York: Jorge Anders date for RCA, with Jimmy Knepper, Frank Wess, George Duvivier, Mel Lewis, et al., in which Adams declines to take a solo due to problems with his horn. c. 15 Dec. - Brooklyn NY: Adams leg gets crushed by his own car, after the parking brake disengages and his car rolls down his driveway and pins him against his garage door. Adams is confined to bed rest and mandatory elevation of his leg round-the-clock for five months.
