Vancouver Island Provincial Parks: Stamp River
Stamp River Provincial Park On Vancouver Island, British Columbia offers a serene and beautiful natural setting for visitors to relax and explore. The park is named after a pioneer who built Port Alberni’s earliest sawmill and is an amalgamation of Stamp Falls and Money’s Pool provincial parks.
One of the park’s main attractions is the annual run of thousands of Pacific salmon, which can be seen circling in the pool below Stamp Falls before ascending the fish ladders on their way to spawning beds. This natural phenomenon occurs every year, starting in late August with sockeye and continuing with Coho and Chinook right into December. Visitors can also see black bears heading to the river to catch an easy meal.
In addition to salmon watching, visitors can enjoy the park’s hiking trails, which wind through the lush forest, past waterfalls and river rapids. The waterfall at the park is a peaceful spot to relax and take in the natural beauty.
