Florida bees & lotus bud ... what are they doing???

These are orchid bees (closely related to sweat bees) which have gradually been moving north from South Florida. They are attracted to scents and in the process, transfer pollen to other flowers. They also collect pollen and store it in the sacks on their legs. Orchid bees are fascinating to watch since they fly like hummingbirds, darting about very fast.
