Danny Kaye 2 Waxworks (1948)

Probably unissued footage from the unveiling of Danny Kaye waxwork at Madame Tussaud’s, London, by the man himself - 1948. Comedian Danny Kaye stands on platform with his waxwork behind him. He sings ’Lily of Laguna’ with piano accompaniment and gets the audience to join in. He then does a comical soft shoe shuffle and pretends to fall off the stage. He conducts the audience then takes a close look at a camera held by cameraman. Back at the microphone, Danny gives funny introduction to song in foreign accent. He keeps stopping, saying he can’t tell which are waxworks and which are real people in the hall. He then sings ’Deenah’ (’Dinah’, in his inimitable way, complete with tongue-twisting ending). Nice bit where two girls in the audience shout out his usual improvisation at one point in the song and he asks them to do it again then jokes about their pronunciation.
