Russia Says Offering China “Nuclear Space Energy Expertise“ For Groundbreaking Lunar Power Plant

The head of Russia’s space agency said it’s working on plans with China on ways to deliver and install a nuclear power plant on the moon by 2035. According to Yuri Borisov, the two countries are contemplating a groundbreaking project to establish a plant by the years 2033 to 2035. “Today we are seriously considering the project,” Yuri Borisov, general director of Roscosmos, said. Borisov revealed that they have been collaborating on a lunar program, with Russia contributing its expertise in “nuclear space energy“ to the endeavour. The power plant would need to be built by robots, he told students during a lecture, according to the Interfax news service. The proposal aligns with Russia’s broader ambitions in space exploration, including plans to mine resources on the moon.
