Beachy Head, Eastbourne, East Sussex. Policeman blows his whistle standing on the edge of Beachy Head. The Eastbourne Police rescue team spring into action. It is a training session. Various shots of the team preparing their rescue equipment before staging a rescue for a man injured on the rocks below. They attach ropes to their winch and one man is strapped into a safety harness which has a walkie talkie attached. He edges himself backwards off the cliff and we see his progress down the edge of the cliff. Narrator gives us figures of number of deaths per year there are at Beachy Head (“about 6“). The injured man is lifted into the stretcher then hoisted up the cliff. “This may be a demonstration but the risks are just as great“ states the narrator. At the top the stretcher is carried off.
