Occurred at Commonwealth Bank & Trust, 1317 Mt Eden Rd, Shelbyville, KY on October 12th, 2021 around 1 AM.
Two unknown black male suspects pulled up a stolen pickup truck and hitched it to a drive-thru ATM. They pulled the ATM apart, then escaped with approximately $80,000 cash.
Apparently the same crew executed another ATM robbery in similar fashion at the Commonwealth Bank & Trust, 311 Boone Station Rd, just a few miles from the previous robbery.
Repairs were made quickly, and the crews installing the new ATMs commented that the robbers must have known the ATMs were an older model that comes apart easily when opened in that fashion, but the newer ones being installed are reinforced and cannot breached as easily.
