The Tribunal Remembers: Brčko - May 1992

A systematic campaign to expel Bosnian Croats and Bosnian Muslims from their homes in Brčko began when Serb forces took control of the municipality in late April 1992. From May into early July, hundreds of civilians were detained at various locations in the city, including the infamous “Luka” detention camp, where they were beaten, tortured and killed. Goran Jelisić and Ranko Češić were sentenced to 40 and 18 years’ imprisonment respectively by the ICTY for crimes committed in this area.
