165: Dan’s Dinosaurs Ankylosaurus Revisit

Here’s the last model from the Dan’s Dinosaurs line I have, and even after all this years I’m absolutely delighted to examine this. If you like a high degree of accuracy in your dinosaurs and you are a fan of ankylosaurs, specifically Ankylosaurus, this model will reward close scrutiny. Almost all the established caputegulae are here, and even though the actual armour will always be speculative, it takes ideas from Carpenter 2004 and Arbour 2017 to come up with a reasonable intermediate. The rendition of the bony parts, like the scutes and the tail club, are absolutely realistic and have to be seen to be believed, preferable touched too! And while an amazing sculpt, imagine compounding that with the realistic paint application by Martin Garratt! Even the base is a little special, and gives the picture of a day-in-the-life scene by a peaceful herbivore minding its own business.
