Sarabande à Ida Presti by Francis Poulenc

Today is the 100th birthday of the inspirational guitarist Ida Presti! Watch the full video essay we did on her: While the Sarabande was actually written a few years before Ida Presti’s death, it later turned into a lament on her sudden and early passing. We don’t know who wrote the fingerings, but I assume they were made by Ida Presti herself, as they are quite thoughtful and naturally create stunning tone color contrasts.
