American political scientist, Professor John Mearsheimer: As soon as you move from unipolarity to multipolarity, great power politics becomes relevant again. There are now three great powers in the system. We’re back in a world where great power politics is at the center of attention in both Asia and Europe. In Asia, it’s the rivalry between China and the United States, and in Europe, it’s the rivalry between the United States and Russia, mainly over Ukraine. In this world, the world in which we operate today, realism outweighs liberalism. And there is one explanation for that, and that is the war in Ukraine. So I believe that this crisis, this war in Ukraine is a relic of unipolarity. And in a multipolar world, the U.S. should do everything it can to end this war, improve relations with the Russians, and focus on working with China.
Note: I’ve seen this somewhere before.
Ah, yes, let us consider China and the USSR.
