Panzer-Division: The division was formed under the code name Artillerieführer IV in October 1934 in Albertstadt, a district of Dresden. After the proclamation of military sovereignty in 1935, the unit received its official designation, 4th Infantry Division, on 15 October. Parts of the division were stationed 50 km east of Cologne, and when the Rhineland was militarized in March 1936, they marched across the Rhine bridges into the western part of the Rhineland. In August 1940, the 4th Light Division was at the Königsbrück and Milowitz training areas to be reassigned to the 14th Panzer Division. From March 1941, the division moved to Hungary. After a brief assignment with the 2nd Army in the Balkan campaign in the unit of the XXXXVI Army Corps, the division joined Army Group South on the Volhynian border. In the III Army Corps unit of Panzer Group 1, the division participated in the Russian campaign from 22 June. It formed a bridgehead across the Western Bug River at Ustilug and occupied Vladimir Volynsk. After the Ikva crossing, it also fell into the hands of Rovno in cooperation with the 13th Panzer Division. In July 1941, the breakthrough was made via Shepetovka on Fastov. After the further advance to the Dnieper near Dnepropetrovsk, the intervention in the Kiev Kettle Battle took place from the south via the bridgehead near Kremenchug in early September. In October, the division crossed the Don River at Rostov and the Mius River in December. At the beginning of 1942 it was at Kharkov, where it fought in the Battle of Kharkov in May. In August of that year it was assigned to Army Group B and the 6th Army. It was then destroyed with the latter in the Battle of Stalingrad in January 1943. On 29 September 1942, the 14th PD was withdrawn from the southern section, regrouped after a one-week rest period, and thereafter was to take Astrakhan on the lower Volga River, but this was not realized. Since a Soviet counteroffensive began on the lakes region 60 to 75 kilometers south of Stalingrad from 29 to 30 September 1942, the 14th PD and 29th ID (mot.) were ordered out of their areas of disposal to intervene there on a localized basis. They succeeded in stabilizing the front line. After its destruction in Stalingrad, the division was reassembled with Army Group D in southern France from March to August 1943. In September 1943, it was again transferred to Ukraine, this time to the Kryvy Rih area. history, ww2, Germany, Россия, Stalingrad, Cталинград, simplehistory, military, worldwar, Theatrical, Theatrical Trailer, Exclusive, History Movie, Movie Theater (Industry), German, Soviet counterattack, Operation Uranus, Donez, Donets, Tank, Panzer #history #ww2 # Ukraine #Stalingrad #Cталинград #Россия #tank #military #Panzer #worldwar2 #wwii #simplehistory
