The only Queen in the world, after the departure of Queen Elizabeth II. Queen Margrethe II of Denmar

Monarch, artist, designer: what is known for the world’s only ruling queen After the death of the British Queen Elizabeth II, only one ruling female monarch remained in the world. Queen Margrethe II of Denmark is 82 years old, she ascended the throne 50 years ago and since then she has managed to deal not only with public affairs, but also create church vestments and theatrical costumes, paint pictures, translate and illustrate books. Margrethe II is the second queen in the history of Denmark, before her only Margrethe I had this title, who ruled not only Denmark, but also Sweden and Norway in the 14th century. Queen Margrethe was not supposed to become a monarch - in 1665, Denmark passed a law that secured the right to transfer the throne only through the male line. However, in 1953, the law was changed, and women could also claim the throne - the king and queen had three daughters, so without innovations, there would be no one to lead Denmark. Margrethe ascended the throne in 1972 after the death of her father - she was 31 years old.
