Tatting - Edging No. 12

Here I am showing you how to make a lovely vintage edging from the DMC Book called “Tatting“, edited by Thérèse de Dillmont - one of my favourite vintage tatting publications. This beautiful book is now out of copyright and an online version of it can be found here: THE PATTERN: R2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2 (9 picots), rw C3—(long picot)4, TR6, 3, TR6, 3, TR6, 4—(long picot) 3, lock join to 5th picot of ring, dnrw *C4, rw R2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2 (9 picots), rw C3 4, TR6, 3, TR6, 3, TR6, 4—(long picot) 3, lock join to 5th picot of ring, dnrw Repeat from * TO TURN THE CORNER: On the repeat just before the corner, when working the chain with TRs do: C3 4, TR6, 3, TR6, 3, TR6, 4-(very short picot) 3, lock join to 5th picot of ring, dnrw C1, rw R2 2 2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2 (9 picots), rw R3 (to short picot of chain)3-2-2-3-3, dnrw C3 (to last picot of corner ring)4, TR6, 3, TR6, 3, TR6, 4—(long picot) 3, lock join to 5th picot of ring, dnrw Repeat from * above to continue straight side I am using size 20 Lizbeth thread and shuttles are my own.
