“Can’t Stand Losing You“ is a song by English rock band The Police, taken from their debut album ’Outlandos d’Amour’ in 1978 and written by Sting, Police’s singer and bassplayer. It was the follow-up single to “Roxanne“, their first big hit. It reached number 2 in the UK Singles Chart in 1979. The Police were a British band, extremely popular in the late 70s and early 80s. With Sting (nickname of Gordon Sumner) as lead singer, guitarist Andy Summers and drummer Stewart Copeland, the 3 men had their first two hits in 1979: ’So Lonely’ (which reached number 31 in the Dutch Top 40) and ’Roxanne’ (which reached 21). In the same year, they broke through with ’Can’t Stand Losing You’ ( number 9), followed by ’Message In A Bottle’ (which even peaked at number 2). The fifth Police hit, ’Walking On The Moon’ released at the end of that year, then made it to the top 10 at the beginning of 1980 by staying for two weeks on 9.
