The Clean Sweep In Australia (1932)

Full title reads: “Sydney. The Clean Sweep in Australia. New Ministry - after overthrow of Mr Lang - promptly seize his money ’war chest’ for the Treasury.“ Sydney, Australia. Men walk out of Australian Treasury building carrying bundles of papers (Mr Lang’s government had been dismissed by the Governor for using the Treasury as a bank and was replaced by a new administration under Mr Stephens.) One of the men sits in a car. Young boys carry more papers out of a building. People and documents are moved out to cars. Four men stand outside the building holding bank bags. The voiceover says - “To think Al Capone is in prison and Ned Kelly’s dead.“ Obviously this was something of a scandal in Australia. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
