The Making of an Artisan Forged Hammer at Forge Ilmarinen

Forging a hammer head takes patience and precision. Romain of Forge Ilmarinen spent years learning blacksmithing with the Compagnons of France, and has brought his craft to Quebec, creating traditional items with modern tools. Blacksmithing, like any traditional, artisan craft, is not just a thing of the past, to be performed in museums and for historical reenactment: it’s a living craft done by modern people for modern needs. Visit Forge Ilmarinen’s page or Facebook: Music is from Out of My Own Light by the incredibly talented Scottish fiddle player, Louise Bichan. You can check out her two channels, one for her recordings/album releases, the other a fun channel called FiddleCam, where she plays traditional tunes against beautiful scenic backdrops all over the world.
