The Mysterious Wreckage Of A Sunken WW2 Bomber | Search For The Mystery Bomber | Unearthed History

A group of divers in Australia discovered the wreckage of a World War II bomber in shallow waters, believed to be a B-17 Flying Fortress bomber. The identity of the bomber became a mystery as aviation experts couldn’t conclusively determine if it was an American B-17 or B-24 Liberator, or a Japanese Emilee seaplane. They later identified another sunken bomber as a B-25 Mitchell bomber called “8-ball Esquire,“ which was on its way from Cooktown to Port Moresby when it crashed. The divers explored the wreckage, finding various artefacts, including machine guns, munitions, and a service revolver in its holster.
