The lifestyle of a mountain man required immense physical strength, from building log cabins alone to trekking hundreds of miles with a heavy pack.
But that strength was built with training too.
Mountain man W.T. Hamilton says they used:
•dumbbells
•boxing
•trapeze
•single stick (sword training)
•marksmanship
And even in his 80’s W.T. was “straight as arrow, supple and quick” and never needs glasses.
These old time mountain men were religious about fitness, which they called “physical hygiene”.
I was raised by a mountain man, and this mindset is a huge part of my life.
