Want to cut off Huawei’s chip supply chain? Too late! ASML disagrees!

Welcome to VOC - Vision of China,Huawei’s chip manufacturing processes involve equipment from the Dutch lithography machine giant, ASML. These cutting-edge processors are used in Huawei’s latest smartphones, assembled by the Chinese chipmaker, SMIC. This news comes at a time when the U.S. has expressed ongoing concerns about advanced chip manufacturing. Despite the U.S. imposing export restrictions, Huawei and China have persevered and managed to achieve independent manufacturing of Chinese 5G chips. Huawei’s introduction of the “Mate 60 Pro,“ a game-changing 5G-enabled smartphone, showcases China’s technological prowess with advanced 7-nanometer semiconductor technology. The U.S. strategy to curtail and restrict Chinese tech included imposing limitations on ASML’s export of lithography machines to China. However, Huawei has now unveiled mass-produced 5G chips, significantly denting the U.S.’s ambitions. Reports suggest that China managed to make technological breakthroughs, even with less advanced lithography machines. This development has raised concerns in the U.S. tech industry. China’s pursuit of alternative lithography solutions and their progress in areas like SSMB technology indicate that the U.S. may face even more challenges as China’s technological restrictions appear to be on the verge of being circumvented.
